Here goes. The point of this blog is to allow us (not just me) to have an extended conversation about the issues that come before the Montgomery County Council. I really want to find ways to improve our ability to work with one another. In order to keep us all on the same page when it comes to information and context, I will try to keep you updated as to our ever-changing schedules, and I'll include links to related staff work so you can know what I know around the time I know it. No doubt you know way more than I do on many subjects, and I'm looking forward to learning from you.

It is time to impose a freeze on all wage and salary increases for county and school employees until a balanced budget can be achieved while maintaining the Charter Limit on property tax increases. It is outrageous to give 4.5 percent Cost-of-living increases plus 3.5 percent step increases in a declining economy.
Very impressive, Ms. Floreen.
I'll be very curious to watch people weigh in on issues countywide.
I was pleased to see this blog. This morning I helped deliver petitions to urge the county NOT to cut back on funds for mental health. I believe that this is an extremely important investment of our county's funds.
I have been repeatedly approached this election year by persons promising to cut my taxes or not to allow any increases. I always ask them "what would you cut?" there is never an answer. I believe that such uses of our funds - even if my taxes go up - are the wise way to go, and I will continue to support this county in this effort.
Nancy- I think it's terrific you started a blog! You do great job communicating with your constituents, even when you may disagree.
