Ms Floreen,
I realize that the budget is incredibly tight, and we thank you for the recommendation to the workshops on writing resumes and doing interviews.
But if you have a chance, can you please talk to the staffers and students at the Frost school on Aspen Hill Road? They are a very successful academy that tries to launch high-function Autistic and Asperger Syndrome kids into adult self-sufficiency. For such people, it may be more important to enforce protections under Americans With Disabilities Act. Such people may bring massive special talent, but have severe problems presenting themselves as "people persons".
We spend a lot of tax money at all levels of government, and the numbers are growing and the placements and employment is decreasing. Can you help? Autists and AS people can't ever have that "people person" requirement. Can't you help prosecute ADA violators who make an exclusion of autistic/AS characteristics an automatic "no" at job interviews?
Regards,
Thomas Hardman
